Yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day so I spent a lot of time outside doing yard maintenance. In the afternoon I got back in the sewing room and got 2 sets of placemats bound. the first one are these purple ones. I wasn't too happy with these as pieced tops but I'm really happy with them now. I quilted these on 3 different sewing machines and it was a pain in the neck. I will now take one of those machines in for a service next Monday. The nightmare of quilting the last two prompted me to load these on the longarm and the quilting was much more pleasant. I hadn't done free motion feathered curls in a long time and it was fun to do it again. I'm still not great at judging the width of the quilted border so most of my feathers got topped off by the binding. They are still cute and they are just placemats so I'm not bothered.
Both of these will go in the gift closet. I have 2 more sets (2 and 3) to finish today. First, though, I have to give the guest house a big clean as we are having guests this weekend. I'm also putting a bag of larn and craft supplies together for the daughter of the family.

Those are beautiful placemats! They are like baby quilts when it comes to playing around with the quilting; good practice and no judgement!
