Yesterday was dyeing day so I don't have a lot to show for my efforts of the day. I did finish quilting the challenge quilt. I wasn't happy with how some of the stitching lines met so I covered them up with crystals. The crystals don't like sticking to places where the surface isn't particularly smooth so now I'm gluing them on as they fall off. The crystals are taking longer than the quilting! I hope to have this finished up tonight with binding and hanging sleeve and then I'll show the whole thing. Last week Mom and I went to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens to see the butterfly exhibit and walk around the huge rose garden. I took a lot of butterfly photos but haven't edited them yet. But one surprise was finding Lego sculptures in the garden. This was my favorite......and also the favorite of the of birds.
Today I'm off to pick up my new eyeglasses and run a bunch of errands. I don't buy or wear much jewelry but I do love eyeglasses and could easily spend thousands on them. I didn't get any new ones last year so this year I have 2 new "fancy" ones, a cheap pair that I can wear in the playroom when I'm painting and wearing the respirator (so I don't ruin the fancy ones) and new lenses in my sunglasses that I already hate and have to return. I got those done at Costco and they just aren't dark enough. I'm going to have to take them somewhere else. Lots of errands today! The weather is spectacular here today and I'm enjoying having the windows open. I got new glasses several months after my eye surgery and they are not working out at all and I don't like them now even though they cost money I have another appointment set up in August too see if my eyes have adjusted to these glasses to make them right or if I need another new prescription - I will order new glasses regardless - I just do not like these I get sunglasses too as the eyes are very sensitive to light now - the darker the better too - and I think the every day glasses will need to have a slight smoke color to the lenses as well! I've been struggling with my glasses over the last couple of years. I got them at Costco and for some reason they didn't 'set' them right so I spend more time looking over or under them to see my stitching. I purposely got 'three sights' in mine so they would be good for stitching as well as distance and the computer. Unfortunately my overall presc'n hasn't changed so I can't justify new 'good' glasses - instead I got a pair of cheapie bifocals for using for stitching and I can't see well out of those either. I suspect it's my eyes just as much as it's the glasses. (btw - I love the Lego butterfly!!!) 6/10/2016 08:42:48 am
The butterfly exhibit sounds like a very enjoyable time. I sympathize about the glasses. I generally get one pair a year, and they're very costly. I've been having trouble with my progressives, but my opthalmologist swears it's the right prescription. He suggested single vision readers, which I now use for reading, the computer, and close stitching. My sunglasses are progressives, too, but with much larger lenses so they come down lower on my cheeks, and they work just fine. Maybe I should get huge oversize frames for my next pair of regular glasses! Comments are closed.
