A weekend back to normal

Well, I think we got ourselves back to normal this weekend. We were lucky. One of my friends was without power until Friday afternoon and two more only got their power back mid-day Sunday. Our 27 hours was nothing!
​I dyed fabric Thursday (instead of Wednesday) so my schedule was kind of off a day. But I got some things done.

My first plan Saturday was to get started on the vulture quilt border. I finally decided to add the borders in reversible style so I could cut the backing in strips and I cut all the pieces for the border. I then spent about an hour online shopping for fabric for the binding and connector strips. Then I smacked myself in the head, got out my dye samples and picked the color that I need and added it to the dye schedule for next week.
Then I had to clear the table to prepare for ironing on Sunday.

There was a lot of ironing. It takes a while because there's photography involved. I'm glad to be caught up at least until Tuesday when last week's fabrics will be ready.

Sunday afternoon was football so that meant crocheting. The first block of the Moogly 2022 CAL came out and I got that done. This is a layered block look that I've never seen before so it was a good exercise. It's got lots of reverse single crochet (crab stitch) and I've never seen that anywhere except on borders. It still needs to be blocked but I got it to the required 12".

On the left is the first block of 2022 and on the right is the first block of 2021. I'm doing both mostly because I have that much of this yarn. Both of these blocks were designed by the same designer and, without a doubt, this CAL is going to be like a crochet masterclass. I've downloaded block 2 of 2021, started it, ripped it out and will start again later. It's a little harder for me because it doesn't come with a video tutorial. I think I figured it out and will try again tonight. Block 2 of 2022 will be out in 2 weeks. 

My main goal for the week is to get this quilt loaded and started quilting. My friend made it for her stepdaughter as a wedding gift and it is awesome. I can't wait to take some full quilt photos to share. It's going to be quilted pretty simply so I think I'll have fun with it.
