The Grand Opening sale was so successful that I had to get busy dyeing last week. I spent Sunday ironing so I could get all of the new fabrics in the shop this week. So let's get to it! First, 4 gradients are back in stock. Two new Stash Packs (Happy Hour and Color Party) coordinate with Sunset and all of the Color Wheel fabrics. There are also 8 new shibori fabrics. The images are here. To see the fabrics check out the Shibori Category. Finally, I've added a bunch of One Yard lengths. These are all one of a kind fabrics that can't be duplicated. I love them because they have a lot of color and texture variation. They are great for focus blocks in traditional quilts and are perfect for landscape quilts. You see, I really did spend all day Sunday ironing! Check out all of the fabrics in the shop.
Now that the my play room (basement) is reorganized, the batting rack is up and the new workbench built, it's time to get back to normal programming. That means it's time to load a new quilt. Do you remember Spirograph? I loved that "toy" and I bought a new one several month ago to play around with for quilting ideas. I want to do some of those techniques on a quilt but I need to practice a bit. This whole cloth dyed mandala seemed a good place to start. This is going to be a Quilt of Valor so I'm not quilting it heavily but I can get a little practice in.
Now that the giveaway fun is over it's time to get back to normal programming. I thought I'd get all kinds of stuff done last week but, of course, I didn't! Just before Mother's Day I did get these cards done. These are screen printed on hand dyed fabric. The chicken has so much personality and you can have one too with the Funky Bird screen from Carol Sloan. She has a lot of unique thermofax screens. I fused all of the pieces with Mistyfuse and then free-motion stitched around them.
I finished them off with my favorite embellishment, hot fix crystals.
Today I have glass class this morning and a meeting this afternoon so I don't see much getting done today. I do hope to get a couple more glass quilt blocks cut out in class. The Grand Opening Giveaway week is, sadly, over. Thank you for everyone who visited and entered. I've got more giveaways planned this summer so if you didn't win, don't worry, there will be more opportunities coming! The last 2 winners are:
Friday Giveaway - Nancy Phillips Saturday Giveaway - Wanda Hanson
It's been a great celebration. Thank you all for shopping the sale and participating in the giveaways! The winner of Thursday's drawing is Jody Marker.
Once again today's giveaway will include TWO pieces of fabric, 4 yards! One will be one of the reds from Thursday and the other will be this beautiful green.
In addition to the fabric the winner will receive a package of TEN yards of Mistyfuse! This one is a very special package because it's a show special package that she puts together with 7 yards of white and 3 yards of black Mistyfuse. I don't use black Mistyfuse as often as white but there are plenty of times when I need it and I'm glad Iris makes it for us.
Four yards of fabric and 10 yards of Mistyfuse gives a prize worth $102! Remember that the giveaway entry window is only 48 hours! This giveaway will end Sunday at midnight EST. You must enter through the Rafflecopter widget below. Entries in the comments are not considered because Rafflecopter picks the winner. Today it's easy, one entry for everyone and no trick questions! The more time you waste following me the more chances you have to win.
Yesterday I had a great day sewing with my Country School friends. I'm making another QOV from the scraps of this one.
But since I didn't take any photos of my new sewing project I can only share the workbench being used. Last night I decided to load the kiln with some items I have ready to fire and am making a few ornaments to fill in.
Yesterday I spent time starting to organize my new glass workbench (and then ordering a half ton of more glass). Today I'll be sewing with my Country School Quilter friends. I'm going to try to do something with the scraps from the Quilt of Valor that I finished last month.
Last night we checked in on the Chickadees. We think there are 3 of them and they are super cute.

It's for 4th day of giveaways. I hope you aren't getting bored! The winner of Tuesday's drawing is Cathy Labath! Here are today's selection of fabrics. It's Red day today! Each is 2 yards and these images are just part of the fabric (about 30" square). You'll choose your favorite in the Rafflecopter entry below.
Along with your choice of fabric the winner will also receive 2 great products from Mistyfuse! There's a 2.5 yard package of white Mistyfuse AND a Goddess Sheet Mini. The mini is great for fusing small applique pieces.

Today's awesome Mistyfuse product is Transdoodle Juniors. Transdoodle is non-waxy, non-staining, reusable, chalky-color transfer paper for clear guidelines that never set - not even with ironing - and simply rub out with the swipe of a cloth or in the wash. There are eight (8) Transdoodle Junior (8.5"x11") sheets in a package—in the colors that quilters need - 4 white, 2 yellow, 2 blue. Transdoodle is made to be long lasting — use each sheet over and over and over again and just when you think you've used it up....use it again!

Well this isn't much to look at but I think you can appreciate how excited I am to have a second design wall! I don't use the other one very often because it's become the place where I photograph fabric every week. This one can be dedicated to my projects.
It's made from insulation panels from the hardware store and they are covered in old white flannel sheets with staples and Gorilla Tape on the back.
The party continues today!
Here are the 3 fabrics you have to choose from today. These images are just part of the whole 2 yard piece. All of them have lots of texture and color variation.
In addition to the fabric the winner will also receive a Goddess Sheet from Mistyfuse!
The Goddess Sheet is sure to become your indispensable fusing tool. The Goddess Sheet combines a slick Teflon® coated sheer fiberglass — for a long-lasting, nonstick transparent sheet that puts a helpful glossy sheen on fused surfaces — with the Goddess Curve™. Inspired by the goddesses of antiquity … who knew a thing or two about curves … the Goddess Curve™ is your reliable guide to accident-free fusing. The Goddess Curve is there to help you dedicate one side of the sheet to your iron only and the other side to contact with fusible. The glossy sheen is there to make it obvious which side of your fabric has the Mistyfuse on it (since with Mistyfuse it can be hard to tell!) Designed to be used with fusible, the Goddess Sheet is also suitable for all types of crafts. Remember that the giveaway entry window is only 48 hours! This giveaway will end Thursday at midnight EST. You must enter through the Rafflecopter widget below. Entries in the comments are not considered because Rafflecopter picks the winner. Today you have 2 chances to win!
Just so you know that I'm actually doing productive things around here, check out the latest kiln opening!

In other news, one of our big accomplishments for the weekend was getting the batting rack moved. It's not pretty. It's basically 2x4s screwed into the ceiling joists. The set a little farther into the room than I wanted but they have to go where the joists are. To make up for that I screwed the hooks on the back side of the posts. I'm glad to have that done!
