It's finally here! Spring has been so rainy and cool here that I've have been looking forward to beach week with my family more than ever so as you read this I hope that I'm sitting on a beach in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. But I have fun things for you too!

It's the last day of the Giving Thanks Giveaway and if you have been following me for a while you know that the last day of giveaways are my most treasured fabrics - my "waste fabrics". These are fabrics that I use as part of my gradient dyeing process. They are strips of muslin that are about 7" wide by full width of fabric. I never sell these and only share them during giveaway weeks. The quilt as left is one that Gene Black made with some waste fabrics that he won. They are my favorite fabrics to use in my own quilts and you can see them in Catena and The Big Green Quilt.
The image above is just a sampling of some of the fabrics that the winner will receive. Enter in the Raffllecopter box below. Newsletter subscribers and customers get multiple entries but everyone, including casual visitors, gets 1 entry. The drawing is open through November 29 and the winner will be announced November 30.
Welcome to Day 4 of the Giving Thanks Giveaway! These fabrics (and tomorrow's) are what I call "dye ends". At the end of a dyeing session I will often have dyes left over and I don't like to waste them so I get 2 yards of fabric and pour on the dye. I get some beautiful fabrics from these and they all go straight into my own stash. But it's time to share some of them. I have 2 today and 2 for tomorrow.
Today I have 1 2-yard piece in a beautiful pale gray and another 2-yard piece in pale purple and pink. I could see both of these in the same quilt. Enter in the Raffllecopter box below. Newsletter subscribers and customers get multiple entries but everyone, including casual visitors, gets 1 entry. The drawing is open through November 29 and the winner will be announced November 30.
Welcome to day 3 of the Giving Thanks Giveaway!
Sometimes when I dye Stars fabrics (1 yard cuts) the photographs of them just do not turn out right. It's especially tricky with greens and turquoise shades. I always intend to re-photograph them but I never seem to get around to it! These 4 fabrics are all 1 yard cuts that didn't photograph right for me. They are still beautiful colors, my camera simply didn't like them on that day. Now they can belong to one of you! Enter in the Raffllecopter box below. Newsletter subscribers and customers get multiple entries but everyone, including casual visitors, gets 1 entry. The drawing is open through November 29 and the winner will be announced November 30.
Welcome to day 2 of the Giving Thanks Giveaway! Today's prize is one of my Crystal mandala panels that set aside for myself a few months ago. I envisioned some amazing quilting or applique in the center but I just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe one of you will! This mandala is about 42" square. Included with it is TWO yards of a coordinating Reflections fabric.
****If you checked in yesterday and saw a blank post, please go back and enter. For some reason the scheduled post posted blank but it's fixed now!**** Enter in the Raffllecopter box below. Newsletter subscribers and customers get multiple entries but everyone, including casual visitors, gets 1 entry. The drawing is open through November 29 and the winner will be announced November 30.
Welcome to the first day of a week of giveaways! I'm calling it Giving Thanks in celebration of my favorite holiday, the American Thanksgiving. But I also want to recognize how thankful I am for all of you: my blog followers, customers and those of you who actually use my fabric in your creations! It's very humbling. This week I want to give back to 6 of you. I do these giveaways on a regular basis so if you don't win, don't worry there are always more giveaways in the future.
I'm staring off the week with a hand dyed scrap bag. I will stuff a Flat Rate envelope with as many scraps as I can. The fabric sizes vary from approximately charm square size to strips to fat quarter sized chunks. Enter in the Raffllecopter box below. Newsletter subscribers and customers get multiple entries but everyone, including casual visitors, gets 1 entry. The drawing is open through November 29 and the winner will be announced November 30. We've finished up our first week in Maine, We are both having internet withdrawal so we went to the library yesterday to get our fix and I took the opportunity to schedule out this short post. The Moosehead Lake region of Maine is absolutely beautiful. Much more rustic than the Acadia area but that also means fewer stores and organized things to do. That's perfectly fine with us. There's great hiking, boating and fishing opportunities. We found a lake for Chris to fish for some small mouth bass and the pond that we are on is perfect for floating and for kayaking. This is also the best place for a chance to meet a moose! It's the only animal sighting that I had on my animal list. We took a moose safari and got to watch this cow eat for a long time. We were very close so we could hear her blowing bubbles in the water and slurping her feed. What a treat! We've done some hiking too. There are lots of really good trails around here. I've set up a little sewing space on one end of the table and I have a great view while I'm sewing. I started my week by working on some of the blocks I cut for the 8 Flora's Star quilts. I had cut out 14 sets of blocks so far and while sewing these I discovered that I cut half of the blocks 9" and half at 12". Uh oh. I will not go back and recut anything. I will figure out a layout that can use both and I guess I'll continue cutting blocks half and half as if I planned it that way. On the crochet front I've been working on this shawl (Carrie Penny shawl on YouTube) using one ball of Mandala yarn. I just wanted to try the pattern and see if it would make a good donation shawl. So far I'm really pleased.
I finished a couple of loom knit items but got to the library and realized that I forgot to photograph them. I expect that you can imagine what a loom knit hat and scarf look like. I'll be back in a couple of days with another update. Thanks to everyone who played along during giveaway week! It was the most entries ever for one of my blog giveaways.
I use the Rafflecopter app to draw the winners and I only verify that winners who identify as a customer or newsletter subscriber are what they say they are. In the past 10 years I've only ever had to disqualify one winner. This time I will even have packages going to Canada and Sweden! I'm happy to announce the winners of last week's drawing: Monday - 2 winners of scrap packages - Beth H in KY and Karen Lopez Tuesday - garden greens - Lily H Wednesday - cool colors - Susan Cuss Thursday - parfait dyed - JT Haitsman Friday - Shibori - Quilting Tangent Saturday - 2 winners of waste fabrics - Carol H and Michelle Weatherson Congratulations to all the winners. If you didn't win, don't worry, I have another vacation planned this summer!
It's the last day of the Summer Vacation Giveaway. I hope you have liked the prizes enough to want to enter all of the giveaways. If you missed the previous giveaway, don't worry, you can go back and enter all of them. You have until midnight EST May 30 to enter all 6 giveaways.
Don't forget to check out my new beach inspired Waves Gradient in the shop. Long time readers will know that I end all of my giveaway weeks with a pack of my most treasured fabrics of all, my "waste" fabrics! These are fabric strips that I use in the Gradient dyeing process. When I first started using these little strips of muslin I fell in love with the deep texture that the dye creates in these. I've used them in several quilts, including Black Swan, the quilt that's on my bed right now. This prize will be a collection of waste fabrics that are about 7" wide WOF strips. News Flash! Just as I was writing this post I decided that I will draw TWO winners for Waste Fabric bundles.
The second bundle will be similar to this one but will have a different, but still beautiful, collection of fabrics.
This means that instead of the usual 6 winners in one of my weekly giveaways, there will be 8! There will also be 2 winners for the Monday drawing. So be sure to enter the Rafflecopter below for this prize and every day this past week for the other prizes. There's no giveaway tomorrow as the blog always takes Sunday off. Entries close at midnight EST, May 30, 2021. Winners will be announced May 31. |
