A couple of weeks ago I was watching a video and in one part there was a drone view down the middle of a river gorge. It was beautiful and I immediately thought "new gradient"! I couldn't wait to try the idea out in the dye studio. River Gorge turned out exactly how I envisioned it. For me, I'd use this one as a border for a quilt in blues, greens and browns. How would you use it? Gradients Back in StockI sold out of a lot of Gradients during the annual sale this summer and I think I have finally caught up with this last batch for the year. This will be the last newsletter until after Christmas. I hope you have a wonderful holiday, no matter what or how you celebrate!
New Stash Pack!I'm feeling the cold and gloom of winter this month so I had to bring some visual warmth to the dye studio last week and here's the result. It was great therapy! This pack was inspired by a previous pack in similar colors but once it was done it reminded me of some flowers I loved in my Grandmother's garden. I always loved the velvety texture of these particular flowers. It was many years later that I learned that those flowers were called Celosia so that's the name of this new Stash Pack. Celosia Stash Pack is a blend do purples, oranges and reds to bring a lot of variety to your fabric garden. Every Stash Pack has 10 fat eighths of fabrics in a variety of color combinations and color texture. I love them for scrappy style quilts but I think most people use them for elements in art quilts. You can use them any way you want! Each Stash Pack has 5 streaky fabrics and 5 mottled fabrics. Here are larger views of 6 of the fabrics. The fabrics you receive will not look exactly like these but they will be these colors and general textures. I dye 2 yards of each fabric in the collection and the nature of dyeing fabric like this means that there's lots of variety over that 2 yards. Each fat eighth is a gem on it's own. There are so many possibilities for fussy cutting applique or landscape elements. Back In StockMore warmth and sunshine is back with the Trumpet Vine Gradient. It's a hot gradient from deep gold to red and would work great for flower petals, autumn leaves or a sunrise background for your next landscape. Fabric of the WeekThe fabric of the week this week is the Poppy Shades Pack. This color is being discontinued so get it while it lasts! For this pack, if you order multiples you will receive multiple fat quarter packs, not continuous yardage.
It's January, the darkest time of the year in Virginia. I know it's not as cold as it is for my Northern friends, but it's cold to us, and gray and generally blah. When I went to the dye studio this week I wanted something to warm up my soul and this was the happy result. Introducing the new Sahara Gradient. It's a mix of the warm golds and coppers of a toasty winter fire or the heat of a desert. I love the transition of this one from pale gold to deep copper. Back in StockAlong with the new Sahara gradient, I also got these two back in stock for you. Fabric of the WeekWhile Radnor Lake wasn't winter inspired, it does have a wintry feel to it. That's why it's the Fabric of the Week this week. Radnor Lake is 20% off through Sunday.
I hope you had a great holiday season. I know that I enjoyed a couple weeks away from "work" even though it's not really work for me. But a break from any routine is nice. This week I have to go out of town on short notice so I won't be dyeing again until next Wednesday. If there's something custom that you need just contact me and I'll get it on the dye schedule
But there are tons of beautiful fabrics in the shop right now and I wanted to start your year off with a sale! For the next 3 days (through Friday) ALL FABRIC is 15% off! Just use coupon code 2023 at checkout. Sale applies to in stock fabric only. Sale ends Friday, January 6. I know that most of you are pre-occupied with holiday preparations but I hope that no one is having a blue Christmas! I want this new blue-themed Stash Pack to make you joyful and not blue. I could have simply named this one "Not Turquoise" because I used all of the blue dyes other than turquoise. Eavery Stash Pack has 10 fat eighths of fabrics in a variety of color combinations and color texture. Fabric of the WeekThere's nothing wrong with a Blue Christmas if you love blue! For the blue-lovers among us, the Fabric of the Week is the Caribbean Stash Pack. This one has all of the turquoise missing from Lapis. You can pick up this one for 20% off through Sunday.
This new gradient didn't turn out like I envisioned it in my mind and I'm so happy that it went its own way because this is a lot better than my imagination! This is what I call dyer's bliss and that's why I named this new gradient Bliss. It's a lovely gradient from pale jade green to to a pale medium purple. The purple in this gradient coordinates with the Lupine Shades Pack. The jade isn't a current Shades Pack but I can always custom dye coordinating fabrics for any gradient. Gradients Back in StockAlong with the new Bliss Gradient, I have 3 more that are back in stock. Fabric of the WeekThe fabric of the week this week is the Helios Gradient. This one will bring a bit of sunshine to your next project and it's 20% off through Sunday!
It's holiday season and I'm already inspired for Christmas. I've kicked off the season with a new red-themed Stash Pack. I often do reds more on the blue side but this time I wanted to have some bright orange reds along with some deep cranberry reds. I hope you will find some inspiration in this pack as well. Each Stash Pack has 10 fat eighths of fabrics in a variety of color combinations and color texture. I love them for scrappy style quilts but I think most people use them for elements in art quilts. You can use them any way you want! Each Stash Pack has 5 streaky fabrics and 5 mottled fabrics. Here are larger views of 6 of the fabrics. There are so many possibilities for fussy cutting applique or landscape elements. Fabric of the WeekThis week's Fabric of the Week was chosen because I think it makes a great gift. Everyone loves getting a new box crayons and you can give your best friend a fabric pack of crayons for their next creative adventure.
Crayon Box has 20 fat eights dyed using the 10 colors of my Color Wheel Basics Stash Pack. I can even ship this for you with a gift message. Just put in the recipient's address in the shipping information and leave a note in the order comment letting me know the message that you want to send. I'll take care of the rest. Crayon Box is 15% off through Sunday. I've got 4 new fabrics for you this week. These are water and land inspired Reflections fabrics. Reflections are streaky fabrics that are great for water, sky and land elements. I also think they work great for borders and binding.
Fabric of the WeekAnother great fabric for landscape elements is the Clear Day Gradient. It's on sale through Sunday for 20% off.
I'm actually having a relaxing time in Emerald Isle, NC this week with some friends but I wanted to leave this post to let you know that I've finally made some new Stars fabrics. Stars are one yard cuts and are great for backgrounds of art quilts, or borders, setting triangles and binding for traditional quilts. These are just 9 of the many new fabrics that are available. Fabric of the WeekThis week I selected Salt Marsh as the fabric of the week because I think it reminds me of the colors of the area where I'm staying this week. Salt Marsh is 20% off through Sunday.
I will be back home Thursday so any order placed will be mailed by Friday. I love making and using Stash Packs and I couldn't resist doing a new one in tropical blues and greens. It's not even full on Fall yet and I'm already ready to head off to a tropical paradise (which I can only dream of). But dreaming was enough inspiration for this new Paradise Stash Pack. Fabric of the Weekf you love the new Paradise Stash Pack and want to add another Pack that coordinates well, look no further than the Caribbean Stash Pack. Caribbean is 20% off through Sunday.
