Before I get into all of the new and restocked fabrics this week, I'll just post this little reminder. I will be away the entire month of August so I will not be doing any dyeing or shipping that month. If you need fabric be sure to get it in July. If you need anything custom dyed I will need to have your order by July 12. New FabricsI have two new Stash Packs and one new Gradient for you today. I was doing a lot of dyeing the past 2 weeks! I used to have a brown gradient called Coffee and Cocoa. I wanted to change it up and soften it a bit so I've upgraded my beverage choice from Cocoa to Espresso with this new gradient. I know that Stash Packs are mostly used by art quilters so I try to keep two different green packs in stock. Spring Greens is a set of yellow-based bright greens. This new pack is Autumn Greens and is a gold-based set of green fabrics. These are deeper, richer greens than the Spring Greens. Both are equally useful depending on the look you are going for. Each Stash Pack has 10 fat eighths of fabrics in a variety of color combinations and color texture. I love them for scrappy style quilts but I think most people use them for elements in art quilts. You can use them any way you want! Each Stash Pack has 5 streaky fabrics and 5 mottled fabrics. Here are larger views of 6 of the fabrics. The fabrics you receive will not look exactly like these but they will be these colors and general textures. I dye 2 yards of each fabric in the collection and the nature of dyeing fabric like this means that there's lots of variety over that 2 yards. Each fat eighth is a gem on it's own. There are so many possibilities for fussy cutting applique or landscape elements. The second new Stash Pack is called Pebbles. The thought behind this one was to provide a range of "colors" that can be used for roadways, rocks, groundcover and other landscape elements. Gradients Back In StockIn addition to the new fabrics there are 4 gradients back in stock. Whew! That was a lot of work! Fabric of the WeekThis week ALL Reflections fabrics are 20% off! These are all streaky fabrics that are great for sky, water and other landscape elements. Since I'm not an art quilter I like fabrics like these for sashings and borders. These are just a few of the fabrics available. Check them all out here.

We actually did our little bit of celebrating yesterday and this morning we're going to the library's annual book sale to see what we can find to take on vacation to read. This weekend I focused my efforts on ironing a ton of fabric (as you will see tomorrow) and quilting 6 veterans quilts. I have 3 more to be quilted but I quilt in pairs and don't have quilts to pair with these 3 yet. Here are the 6 that I got done. How about this bright, happy quilt? I love citrus colors so, of course, I love this quilt. I quilted it with an all over meander because I knew that no quilting motif would show on this quilt. I paired the citrus quilt with this one. This one might be a little feminine for a veterans quilts but we do know that they have a few women coming through the department so I'm sure this one will eventually find the perfect home. I quilted it with an all over leaf pattern to tie all of the floral motifs together. This is the first quilt of the second set. I think that the maker's setting is really interesting and effective. I used the Woven Wind pantograph on this and it's mate (below). I used gold thread so help pop the tars out even more. I actually didn't notice the cool woven effect on this quilt until I stood back to take a photo. I like it a lot. This is a fun scrappy quilt and I love the color palette a lot. The Burning Bush pantograph was a good fit with the motifs on the fabric. I paired the scrappy quilt with this beauty that Becky made. the blocks are from one of Barbara Brackman's quilt-along projects. Becky does some wonderful fussy cutting on her quilt blocks.
That's all of the veterans quilts for a couple of week at least! |
