Bars and Stripes Quilt Pattern
I needed a fast quilt that would help me repurpose a UFO quilt top. This quilt is perfect if you have a small amount of a feature fabric or crumb blocks. You could also piece the feature bars with strips like a traditional coins quilt. I used tumblers made with the small Accuquilt Go! Tumbler dye. 2 rows finish at 6". This quilt top can easily be made in an afternoon. It finishes 48" x 60" which is the size that we use for the veterans quilts that we donate through Country School Quilters. At the end of the page are cutting instructions for a QOV size.

Cutting and sewing:
This quilt is so easy to make that it seems almost silly to write instructions! It's pieced in columns and finished off with top and bottom borders.
Starting with the 6" wide columns.:
Dark orange center column: cut 1 piece 54.5" x 6.5"
Medium orange columns: cut 2 pieces of feature fabric 38.5" x 6.5" and cut 4 background pieces (light blue) 8.5" x 6.5"
Light orange columns: cut 2 pieces of feature fabric 22.5" x 6.5" and 4 background pieces (medium blue) 16'5" x 6.5"
Sew these pieces together to make 5 columns.
Cut the 6 sashing columns (dark blue) 3.5" x 54.5" Sew the quilt together alternating sashing with the columns
Cut the 2 pieces for the top and bottom (green) 3.5" x 48.5". Sew these to the top and bottom to finish the quilt.
