Maggie the Messmaker Cross Stitch
If my life goes to plan this will be the last cross stitch piece that I ever do.
EXACTLY 9 years after I started (7/18/01 - 7/18-10). It has approximately 55,000 stitches.
I'm not sure why I finished it because I really dislike (hate) it. But I have learned a valuable lesson about starting projects on a whim. I bought this kit because it was only $30. I never considered the hundreds of hours that it would take to complete. The gold stitching on the sewing machine took about 3 hours and the couching of the mice and backstitching on the linen took about 5 hours. I bought it because I had a print of the original artwork and thought it would be "cool" to have the matching cross stitch. I didn't want to hang it in my house because I had already moved on from the original art. I had a blog drawing and gave it away to a blog reader who framed it and hung it in her sewing room. She says she still loves it.
