Tie Dye Quilt of Valor
Approximately 70 x 90
This is a tie dyed mandala that I made a few years ago and just got up the nerve to quilt it this year. It's my second QOV for 2016.
I want to start quilting some of my Crystal dyed fabrics and decided to use this one as a practice piece. The mandalas and crystals aren't perfectly symmetrical so I needed to figure out how I would deal with that. It turns out that the answer is very easily! I marked my quilting symmetrically. The eye aligns everything up so that you can't really tell except on close inspection.
I also wanted to practice some Spirograph shapes and this quilt was the perfect opportunity.

I did Spirograph shapes in all of the red areas. I didn't add background quilting because I wanted the quilt to be snuggly. It's not intended to hang on the wall.
I quilted "innies" and "outies".
The background was a really simple and fast ribbon piano key and I have a tutorial for it here.
A soft hand dyed blue on the back shows off the quilting nicely.
