Woodland Star Quilt

I am so excited to have this quilt finished. I love everything about it! I made it for a wedding gift and almost wish I could keep it. If I didn't like the bride and groom I'd probably keep this and send them some china or something. 
The pattern is by Laura Blanchard. I saw her quilt hanging in a booth at a quilt show and I knew right away that it would be perfect for my Salt Marsh color palette. This has taken a lot longer to make than my own progress would indicate. It took me a long time but only because I did other things in between. The quilt is actually quite simple to construct. I did starch all of my fabrics and that helped a lot with bias edges.

I didn't think that feather quilting would be right for this quilt so all of the quilting is foliage motifs. There's a lot of stitch-in-the-ditch because I love SID quilting. Although I didn't love it as much on this quilt. It was the ruler work on this quilt that convinced me that I needed to upgrade my longarm. The Millennium with the Bliss Drive is just way too sensitive.
All of the quilting is done with Superior So Fine! thread.

​In the setting triangles and squares I stitched close once around the leaves and stems and echo quilted once.  The background quilting is a stipple similar to the motif in that light border.

In the star I did CC quilting in most of the diamonds but created a wreath of leaves centered on the light blue diamonds.

This one was given as a wedding gift and 2 years later I was told that the have used it every day since they received it.
