Star Struck Quilt
95" Square
First, I have to thank Judy Laquidara for the pattern for this quilt. It was one of her quilt-along projects and I loved it the first time I saw it. This is also the first quilt that I made with my own hand dyed fabric palette and it even has a matching tie dye backing.

This is the first quilt that I quilted where I did SID everywhere, custom quilted every element and added lots of feathers. It's not perfect but I'm still quite proud of it.
I wanted to see if I could dye a backing to go specifically with the pieced quilt pattern. This didn't' work out perfect, but it was darned close and it's in Virginia Tech colors too! I pretty much followed the instructions in my own tutorial except that the quilting that I did as I was loading the quilt was only basting stitches. The original tutorial shows doing the quilting as the quilt is loaded but that isn't possible in a quilt like this with lots of custom quilting. Instead I basted the entire quilt on the longarm and then went back and started the SID. The process worked great.
You can see that the center block and other blocks line up perfectly but I got a little out of line at the outside borders.
