Shereen's Peaceful Garden
This quilt was one of those that just spoke to me. I did not have a plan for the large scale prints but I had the stack of hand dyed samples that went with them. I took the whole pile with me to Craft Week in May. One morning I woke up and had this idea. That was the same day that Chris' friend Mike was being transferred into Hospice care. As I was working on the quilt I was thinking about Mike's wife, Shereen and by the time I was half way done with the quilt I was already thinking of it as hers. I have offered to make quilts for her sons from Mike's clothes and I intend to use this same pattern. I envision the floral blocks with tshirt logos, the frames maybe from his work shirts and the background pieces from maybe his hunting camouflage or jeans or shorts or something.
I also have these same floral prints in a blue/purple/green colorway so I can make one for myself. When I do that I will write up the pattern as a tutorial for you too. This quilt is approximately 66 x 72. I think the final version is going to be 60 x 72. I quilted this one with the Feathered Curls pantograph by Timeless Quilting. I used Superior Rainbows #861 on the top and lime Highlights in the bobbin. |
