This is the last of the 4 new quilts that I planned for the 4 twin beds in the guest house. I made the new quilts big enough to be more like bedspreads and now I can trash the ugly bed skirts. This quilt was a lot of fun to make once I got the hang of cutting the blocks. One thing is for sure, sewing improv style isn’t really easier than sewing traditional blocks!

All of the fabrics are hand dyed and the most difficult one was the background fabric. I’m not good a dyeing light fabrics! But I loved how this fabric eventually turned out. It has pale shades of reds, blues, greens and tans. Karla’s instructions included some of the background fabric in a few of the blocks and I really like the effect of that.
I quilted it with a pastel variegated Superior Rainbows thread and used one of my favorite overall patterns. It’s a spikey fern that I learned from the Pajama Quilter.
The back is from a fabric that I dyed with some leftover dyes. The label is sewn on and the quilt has been washed so it’s ready for duty!
