Anyone remember when I used to do some Zentangling? Well, yesterday I needed to pull out the books and pens and revisit that craft for a few hours. This is the envelope for our files for the tax accountant. Overkill? Maybe, but there's a backstory.
Many years ago we started having our taxes done my professionals because, well, I'm incompetent at it and I really hate doing it. When we moved to Richmond we went to a local firm where my cousin worked and she did our taxes for years. About 5 years ago I decided to start decorating the envelopes for her just to give her something different to see other than a pile of endless manilla envelopes. She liked them but I didn't know that she liked them enough to hang them in her office for everyone to see. Fast forward to last year. My cousin had retired so our new accountant is Samuel. Woohoo! I didn't have to decorate envelopes anymore. Then Samuel called to let me know that the taxes were ready and mentioned that he didn't get a decorated envelope. So here we are. I'm back to decorating tax envelopes! This is what I spent yesterday doing and it was fun to do some Zentangling again. It took several hours but it's such a relaxing was to spent time. Below are some progress photos.

What a fun story! And a nice thing for you to do. Love your Zentangles! I bought some books on doing it years ago and still haven't tried it yet.

I love to Zentangle, but issues with my eyes have kept me from it for the past couple of years. This year I decided that i was going to spend more time doing hobbies I enjoy - quilting, Zentangle, and regain better balance in my life. Zentangle is such a great hobby for all ages. I have made many cards decorated with Zentangle. I was surprised when I visited one of my nieces, and she had framed her card and hung it on the wall in her office. I do our taxes, so no need to decorate envelopes for that. Though it does give me other ideas for surprising places to do some tangling. Have a great weekend.

Methinks you've started a tradition now! I hate doing taxes too so off we went to drop ours off at H&R Block this morning.

I have done a lot of Zentangling. I did many of them on Artist Trading Cards. It was actually a gateway for me into free motion quilting. At the time I didn't make quilts at all. A friend told me that my Zentanges were quilting designs. So once I got into quilting, it seemed that I had practiced "way ahead of time."

Really like your tax envelop! I am also glad to see I am not the only accountant who hates to prepare my own taxes and decided to hire another to tackle that awful chore! I have not done any zentangling in a long time either. Hope my CPA doesn't read your blog!!!

Yes I do remember way back when you did Zentangles, probably why I gave it a try. I was just thinking the other day that I should revisit the art! I'm about to have some surgery and will have to quietly convailese so this will fit the bill nicely. ALSO, love the new earth dyes. Comments are closed.
