It's the next to the last day of the giveaway. I hope you have been entering every day!

Today's giveaway is a very cool piece of fabric. This started life as an excess piece of a wide backing so it's an odd size at 47" x 60". It's another piece that got dumped on with some extra dyes and it turned out beautiful! It might be a nice backing for your next project or could be cut into blocks for the feature fabric in your next quilt.
I hope it inspires you and you will enter the drawing (below) to win this one. The winner will be announced September 5. ![]()
Are you making sure that you enter every day of giveaways?
Today's giveaway is for a set of bolt end fabrics that are all dyed in the Sundance palette. The fabric is my normal fabric that I sell but the bolt ends were used like I use my waste fabrics. So you get the great color patterning of the waste fabrics but in better fabric. A couple of these pieces are at least 12" wide. I think you could do some fun things with the color and pattern variety in these. Enter in the Rafflecopter box below. Winners will be announced September 5. ![]()
Let's continue today with more of my bold ends plus TWO half yards of the Red Sunset Gradient! I think it's a very pretty palette.

Let's get this party started!
I love doing these week long giveaway. It gives me a nice break from blogging, let's me make a tiny dent in my stash and gives you something fun to look forward too! It also rewards my customers because customers get 5 extra entries! Followers on different social media platforms also get extra entries as well. Stop in every day this week, through Saturday for a different giveaway each day. Winners for all contests will be announced September 5.
When I dye fabric I always have strips from the beginning and end of bolts that aren't wide enough to be a product but they are still good fabrics and I dyed them with leftover dyes. I've been dyeing so much this summer that I have a LOT of these! So the first 3 days of the giveaway will have some of these fabrics
I'm kicking things off with a set of fabrics in pinks and golds. Most of these are WOF strips at least 6" wide. Enter here: It thrills me to see what my customers do with the fabric and I've seen some really creative projects. Today I'm sharing the projects that aren't your typical art or bed quilt. Katelyn Morley used gradient to make great dog collars. Becky Brown's Daylily isn't stitched, it's decoupaged! First Draft Pub in Denver, CO used the Sundance Gradient to create art panels for their mezzanine. One of my favorite projects of all time are the Up Helly Aa banners that Timothy Coote made. They carried these banners (with the Navajo gradient) in a parade in New York City in 2016. I hope you have enjoyed Oldies But Goodies week on the blog. I had a great time revisiting some past customer projects. Oldies But Goodies Tutorial![]() Today's tutorial is one that I go back to again and again. It's my potholder tutorial. I've made dozens of these for gifts and it's time for me to start thinking about Christmas gifts. Potholders are always needed and useful. ![]() Don't forget to come back Monday through Saturday next week for daily giveaways! Stash Packs are sets of 10 fabrics in Fat Eighths, usually in a theme color. usually people use small bits of fabric but in the case of Copper Flow, Patricia Caldwell used one fat eighth from a Pebbles and Rocks pack to make a stunning whole cloth quilt. Margaret Griffiths is a prolific quilt artist and also a friend. Both of these quilts use Stash Packs to great effect. The one on the left used Pink, Purple and Green Stash Packs. That Purple Thang mixed a Purple Stash pack and batik scraps to great effect. Lauren Furey makes custom minister's stoles and she made this stunning one with fabrics from a Dusk To Dawn Stash pack along with other fabrics. Another friend, and fellow quilt club member, Marcy George, made this art quilt with fabrics from 2 Stash Packs. I made 3 quilts in this pattern! I started with a king size version for my nephew and his wife, then I made a lap size with the leftover blocks and then a baby quilt with the last of the blocks! I used Color Wheel Stash Packs, several coordinating Stash Packs and scrap fabrics. Oldies but Goodies Tutorial - Rainbow QuiltThe Rainbow quilt even has a tutorial so you can make one (or three) for yourself. The instructions include several sizes and you can get the tutorial here.
A lot of people tell me that they are afraid to cut into their fabric. This is doubly true for gradients. I always say "cut it, there's more where that came from". Donaleen Kohn has no fear at all! She doesn't cut into her fabric, she tears into it because she loves the raw edges. Here she made a fireplace screen and lap quilt using Abundance, Thrive, Meadow Sunrise and Paradise Gradients. Donaleen and I have similar tastes in art too. When I received this photo I was delighted to see the glass vase on her mantle because I have one from the same artist! ![]() Susan Turney made this quilt in a class with Melody Johnson. There are 3 different gradients (Sugar Maple, Navajo and Barrier Island used in this piece. Instead of using just one gradient Linda pieced strips of 3 gradients for The Aster Quilt. I think it added a lot of extra interest to the quilt. Rene Iannarelli used Summer Sunset and Red Dawn Gradients for her art quilt. She has several quilts in the customer gallery using this technique. Patricia Caldwell incorporated the Gray Skies gradient into her Raven's Sun quilt. Rachel Derstine used Key West, Solar Flare and Under the Sea gradients to piece the ribbons in her Easter Quilt. Cheryl Kotecki and I made these last 2 quilts. They were made with Barbara Brackman's Grandmother's Choice quilt-along a few years ago. These quilts mark a big milestone for me. My version was the first quilt I made using my shibori fabrics for the blocks and I borrowed (with permission) Cheryl's gradient and setting background idea. The two quilts are different but it's clear to see that I got the idea for mine from her. Then as we were finishing our quilts hers bled like crazy. The green background is my hand dyed fabric so we initially thought that my fabrics were the problem. In the end we think it was the green backing fabric. But, working with Cheryl is what helped me figure out the whole Bleeding Quilt solution. Which brings me to today's: Oldies by Goodies Tutorial - Bleeding Quilt![]() Through testing for Cheryl's quilt and a quilt of my own, I eventually developed the technique for dealing with bleeding quilts. This is the most visited tutorial on the website and I'm happy for it to be shared far and wide and all I ask is for a link and credit. However, I recently discovered that another quilter has stolen the content and posted as her own on her website. I'm in the process of trying to get that removed but if you want to share this information on your website, blog, Facebook page or with your quilt guild, please do, but please share it as a link. Christine Cetrulo made 2 quilts using gradients. Mother Earth is a wholecloth and Forever Cancelled uses the gradient as a fiery sky background. You already know that Patricia Caldwell is a very prolific artist. This particular piece is one of my favorites. I know it had a name but I don't remember what it was. But this was one of the first quilts that she shared with me and I still regret not purchasing it. She used the Blue Sky gradient for the background. Another artist that uses a lot of Blue Sky is Melody Money. She doesn't share her artwork in my customer gallery but you can see her amazing work here. Leslie McNeil is another prolific artist. She often quilts wholecloth table runners with her beautiful feathers. This one is on the Woodlands Gradient. She also teaches classes and designs patterns using floral fabrics to great imagery. Izaak the Bighorn is made on a background of the Thrive Gradient. Teresa Myles used the Bay of Campeche gradient as the background for her mermaid. Miriam Ahladas made The Old Rugged Cross with the Red Sunset gradient. This piece is our transition into tomorrow's post. She used the gradient as the background and as the design elements. Oldies But Goodies Tutorial![]() In the Northern Hemisphere August is the perfect time for some sun printing. Last year I dyed about 10 yards of fabric that ultimately became my Maine Quilt. If you want to give sun printing a try, I have a tutorial to get you started. I'm sleeping under my Maine quilt this week. Today's post is highlighting projects made with the Color Wheel Fabrics. Holly Gangelhoff made her art quilt with fabrics from the Color Wheel Medium Stash Pack. You met Pat Ferguson, aka Pattilou Quilts, yesterday. Today we are sharing her Color Wheel New Your Beauty quilt. Then she took the leftovers and made this cool scrap quilt! My project with the Color Wheel palette is this quilt. Tell It To The Stars was started in 2013 as a quilt-along with Judy Laquidara. She still has the pattern offered free here. Oldies But Goodies Tutorial - Color TheoryWhen I started dyeing fabric I was most fascinated with color mixing and that led me to a long self-study of color theory. I wrote a series of articles on Color Theory and it includes an explanation of how I settled in the Munsell system for my color wheel palette. You can read my articles on color theory here.
