A new quilt project

I intended to have a shop update today with a new Stash Pack but I was not happy with 2 of the fabrics so we'll have to wait a week to see that. Meanwhile, I need to make a wedding gift quilt.

The son of a friend is getting married in June. I haven't actually met the bride so I went to her registry to see what kind of colors she selected. Well, as is the custom right now, everything is GRAY! I do mean everything. There isn't one drop of color in anything she picked. I think gray is going to become the avocado green of the 2030's.

The groom is a big hunter so I purchased this camo fabric for the backing. It has a little bit of purple in it so I took that as license to add a bit of color to the top. I'm going to make the Antelope Canyon quilt again. It was easy and pretty fast so I should be able to get this one made in a few weeks. Last week I got a start by dyeing the fabrics. I will not use all of these shades but I decided to go ahead and dye 8 shades of each so that I can lay them out together and pick which to use.

I think it's going to be very pretty and should make a nice sofa quilt.

I'm always surprised when colors selected is gray only - maybe they have a lot of paintings or other kinds of things with color to place around their home? In a way that is good because then you can scattered lots of color around and it won't clash.

Ugh gray. I made a baby quilt that was supposed to be only gray; couldn't do it. Made a very muted blue, SPECTACULAR, quilt. They turned their noses up at it, never thanked me and never used it. Wishing you much better luck.

Babies new COLOR - it's a developmental requirement!! Decorating a baby room in muted tones drives me crazy!!

Sigh, I remember those avocado green appliances - and that was when things really lasted - so you were stuck with it a long long time!

I like the addition of purple to the gray. I hope they love it.

Avocado green - and horrible pink bathroom tiles. Our bathroom in our previous house had those and I hated every time I had to go in there. Took me twelve years to get rid of it.
If the bride doesn't like the quilt, I'm pretty sure there are a number of us that would happily love it.

Neutral tones are definitely the new aesthetic in home decor, it seems. My house, then, is definitely dated with all my colorful walls. This is going to be a stunning quilt and a thoughtful gift!

I thought I was clever using that trick with a bride I didn't know. Turns out the colors went with the rental property they were living in. :(

Grays should have good longevity.

I like the purple with the gray. I had a harvest gold stove and fridge- UGLY! LOL!!! The house I have now had pink and black tile from the 60's, but one of the previous owner's sponge painted it. That did not help it. The sink, toilet and tub were pink too. The only reason I knew what color the tile was when I demolished the bathroom the tile behind the toilet had not been sponge painted. I keep wondering when gray is going to run its course and what color would be the next standard.

Being the devil’s advocate here. I wouldn’t add purple unless you specifically asked them and they said ok. Otherwise, it will be shelved and never used. That would be a waste of your good intentions.

I like lighter grey walls with white trim. But that is where the grey ends for me. I would feel like I was living in a world stripped of environmental comfort. I think your quilt would fit in without violating their taste.
