When we go to Maine in the summer I like to have a "big" project to work on and I like to kit it up ahead of the trip. That's where I worked on the Red Sunset quilt. Last year I did some veterans quilts but I wanted something different for this year. I love Elizabeth Hartman patterns and this one looked fun. I think it might eventually used as a fundraiser quilt for a local organization. I dyed some blue fabric for the background because I'm really tired of gray. I decided to pull the fabrics for the blocks this week and see if I needed anything else. I'm posting the groups here just so I can have it documented somewhere for when I start cutting the pieces. The strawberries. The horses The cows The pigs The sheep The chickens The goats The bees The sunflowers
Now that I've seen them against the blue I am thinking that I might want to have a lighter blue. What do you think?

I agree that a lighter blue would be better. Looking at the fabric choices for the animals, the background in your original blue looks like it's the same value. Wish I had seen the pattern before I finished the quilt for our family's newest baby-to-be.

Oh, my, that's cute! 3/26/2024 01:08:47 pm
I love her patterns. I did a QAL on my blog, just in case you are looking for some hints on doing it. I have done a few and my best hint is copy/print the pages with cutting and cut apart and label….you will be surprised how similar a 2 1/4 x 3 and 2 1/2 x 3 look in a stack!

I like that blue but a lighter one might give better contrast.

That will be quite a project to tackle! I am sure you will make the decision that makes you happy with the color of the background blue. I think making it with your hand dyes will take the look of the quilt up a notch! 3/27/2024 09:50:49 am
I like the brighter blue - and I LOVE the colors for all the animals!! you will have to let us know if you do raffle it - I will need tickets!!!

I like the blue... You have chosen some real clear color fabrics that need the bright blue. Comments are closed.
