I finally got the table clear and gathered enough nerve to sew the borders onto the applique quilt. Don't worry, the borders aren't wavy. I just don't have it laying flat on the floor. You can see that I had to pull out a bit of stitching on the vine so that I could adust the vine trailing under the blossom. Here it is ready to stitch the 4 corner blossoms! This is the biggest floor spot that I have in the house (that's also clean enough for a white quilt) so you can't see the whole thing but you get the idea. I'm thrilled! For stitching I've folded the quilt and shoved it in a pillowcase with only one corner sticking out. Hopefully this will work fine. I'm anxious to get back to stitching.

the on point inner border really elevates, what could have been a repetitious applique flower layout. And too, the clever meeting up of both borders with a miter and different flower. good job 5/4/2018 02:59:18 pm
Beautiful!! - I like your "pillowcase" idea - it looks like a great way to keep the bulk of the quilt top out of your way - and to keep it clean at the same time - ;))

Ah! The pillowcase is a great idea for containing the rest of the top while you stitch those corner sections. 5/5/2018 09:41:43 am
It looks great! I know the courage it takes to sew the borders on and it is such a relief when it all goes well.

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! This is an amazing quilt. Love all the details you've shared along the way. The overall design/layout puts each flower in the spotlight, shows your incredible stitching, and is just wonderful to look at.

Vicki, I have been waiting to see it together, and it was worth the wait. Love the idea of putting it in the pillowcase for the final stitching.

So exciting to see it all together! I am in love with this quilt and hope it gets its turn at the quilting machine sooner rather than later.

What a beautiful quilt top. The design is sheer genius. I love the way the center square is set on point and that the vine matches the border vine. Your handiwork blows me away every single time. Comments are closed.
