Tomorrow will be the 2-week mark for my self-imposed new/TV hiatus. Instead of watching morning news I read the Wall Street Journal and I've watched one evening news program 3 or 4 times. I've learned that I haven't missed a thing! There really isn't any news on "the news". I watched some golf this weekend and a couple of shows on HBO and that's it. Instead I'm listening to books and actually "doing" things. The weather here was beautiful again this weekend so I got to kayak a bit, took some walks and otherwise ignored Chris because the new Bluetooth headphones are virtually noise canceling too. He new has to chase me down to tell me something if I'm listening to a book. Until football season starts, I'm all in on the "no TV" plan. One of the things I accomplished this weekend was a new section on the wall. I have no idea what this is. I just started putting blue and green glass pebbles on the wall. Then I bordered them in dark blue. Then I found some red and amber glass pebbles and finally filled in with the plate shards. Cleary I didn't consider the colors in the section right next to it. I just stuck things on the wall and I like how it turned out. Chris says it's "A river runs through it". The Eastern Phoebes are about to fledge and not a moment too soon. I had to put a plastic tarp in the front porch and I'm really looking forward to getting it up and throwing it out.
Ick.

I've found a couple of websites (Good News Network and Sunnyskyz) that are devoted to (say it with me) good news. They post at least once a day. I usually end my web surfing with them. I like Chris' take on the mosaic.

Another nice piece to the wall! 6/20/2016 04:33:31 pm
yes it kind of looks like a river runs through it. Since you mentioned the stuff about the news I have watched very little of it and you are right we aren't missing much. My husband insist on watching it in the evening and sometimes I kind of glance at it but a lot of times I am sewing and not really paying attention to it. Today I turned on music and have not watched any tv but then I rarely watch any until evening when I sit at the quilting frame and put something on Netflix

This one reminds me of the cloches the flappers wore in the '20's. I love all of your mosaics.

I have been looking for some wireless earbuds too, would you please share... which brand and model you have? The ones I have are labeled "JAM" and I bought them at Target. They were about $35 - 40. The sound is really good. So far I'm happy with them but I really don't know a thing about headphones so don't take this as a recommendation......I just bought the first pair I could find under $50.

i like your river How I would love to go tv-free along with you, but unfortunately I have a husband who is addicted. Living in a small apartment means I can't get away from it. I used to be a music junkie though and have weaned myself off that. My radio doesn't work most of the time in my sewing room and my CD collection has gotten way past being boring, so it was an enforced weaning. Like your latest mosaic - Chris has the perfect name for it. Comments are closed.
