Who knew that orange could be a neutral? This is my last finish before vacation. This is also a veterans quilt and I love it. I really enjoy making these quilts. I can piece a top in one weekend if I have the strings and foundations already cut. You just have to remember that half the blocks need to have the diagonal in the opposite direction. I didn't pay attention to my block count when I made this quilt so I had to remake one block. I know that orange isn't appealing to everyone but it's my happy color and I love it in this quilt. In between travel preps, Chris and I got in some kayaking one evening. It was beautiful out on the lake.
We leave today for a 2-day drive to Maine. I probably won't post again until Monday.

I love your string quilt with orange as the main zinger. I told a friend about it the last time you posted about it. Looks like you used a tiny bit of black when you dyed the orange? Also, what did you use for the foundations?

I never thought of orange as a neutral. I never think of orange until Halloween. Thanks for opening my eyes.

I never thought I was a fan of orange but it's certainly growing on me since I've watched you making this quilt. I suppose, if you were organized, that cutting the strings as you make other quilts and tucking them away would help with the tedium of cutting them all at once. Just sayin' (not that I would EVER be remotely close to being that organized!) Comments are closed.
