This past Friday and Saturday were sewing days with Country School quilters. I have this project packed up and only work on it there. It makes packing for the day very quick and easy. I have a dedicated sewing machine and set of notions for "travel quilting" so I can get ready in about 5 minutes. This is a perfect project to work on because the blocks are simple so I can talk and sew at the same time. I just love these bright colors too so I really look forward to working on it. I had a a stack of bright fabrics and cut as many blocks as I could. I should have enough for a king and lap quilt. This pretty stack represents 180 out of 318 blocks. That doesn't include the border blocks!
I have a tutorial for this quilt here.

The hand dyes made up in traditional type blocks are so very colourful and striking. I'm currently working on a variation of your "Sea Glass" quilt using purple where you have blue and my group is quite taken with how very gay and colourful it is. 10/11/2016 01:26:23 pm
love it - such bright colors - I have made this pattern before and so easy

I love the fabric. It looks like a lot of fun to work with. I do love it when I can stay with a project and not get bored. 10/11/2016 05:07:06 pm
Such wonderful, juicy colors!! I love the way the blocks look. Any order or order you sew the colors onto the blocks? 10/12/2016 08:02:25 am
I have copied you on this quilt....except for the border. I punked out and didn't do the border. But I have the top pieced and it is in the to-be-quilted cabinet. I used mostly hand dyed fabrics on mine, too. I love the bright colors. Thanks for inspiring me to piece more tops. hahaha If I die before they all get quilted, I believe I shall have the ones inspired by you sent to you. hahahahaha

You hand dyes add so much to this. The texture of the hand dyes gives the blocks and extra depth that solids would not.

I just love this quilt. During our gray & beige (I live in the desert) winter months, I crave color and your quilt is the perfect solution. Thanks for the tutorial. Once I finish up the Christmas quilts, your quilt is next and made for me. Comments are closed.
