Addressed, stamped and mailed. I'm ready to call Christmas done. I don't even want to decorate but Chris is prodding me to start doing some of it today and so, I will. I know I'll like it once it's up but, honestly, I'd rather spend the day cutting glass or quilting. Judy, at Judy's Quilting Studio, is hosting a postcard challenge and asked me to do something that I've never done before. She wanted me to tally the miles my cards will travel. It seemed like a daunting task at first but you know me, I love to track things. If you are making and sending postcards you can participate too. Just check it out on her blog. So here's my chart. Most of my cards, of course, are staying in Virginia but I have a few that are traveling long distances. One is going to England and a few to the Wests Coast. Don't get too caught up in the cities. Tampa for example actually represents Tampa and a MidWest city that was the same distance. I still have a few more to address and several that will be handed out personally but I'm pretty impressed with a total of 23,700 miles (or 38183 kilometers).

We didn't put up decorations last year, I couldn't believe my DH wanted a pass but I think it was exhaustion from all the landscaping we did all summer. I make the decorating day an occasion with lots of nibblies and champagne, it helps a lot. 12/3/2016 02:04:34 pm
are you ever worried the cards will get damaged in the mail - or do you put them in an envelope, I heard of one that mails as is and said as far as she knows most arrive ok. A lot of work - I haven't even thought of cards still 12/3/2016 06:26:15 pm
Making and sending quilted postcards is so much fun. My grandchildren carry them around the house for days when they receive one. They have a collection from a number of countries. I have sent them from St Thomas, San Juan, Cayman Islands, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and other places. Only 2 did not get delivered. Brazil and Indonesia. Still worth it.

My first thought on seeing the photo of the edges was "what kind of postcard is that" Then I quickly realized what I was actually seeing.

I was going to say that you got a lot of mileage out of them.

I don't decorate at all for the holidays. It is just me. I do have a ceramic piece that my Mom made and sometimes I plug it in, but that's about it. Comments are closed.
