Yesterday was my day to get back in the grove. I got the sewing room straightened a bit and unearthed the pre-postcard-blitz project. I started these placemats in October and I'm ready to get back to them this weekend. If I had worked on only one thing yesterday I would have finished these. But that's not how I roll. So instead I rolled on into the playroom (aka basement) and rolled on this QOV. It's basted and I'm picking threads. I'll start quilting tomorrow. This is my 3rd QOV for the year. It's going to get an all over design so I can get it done and ready to deliver by the end of December. I"m thinking that a ribbon meander might be the way to go on this one. But I spent most of the day filling the kiln. The 4 bigger pieces are 6" square and they are for a customer. What looks like white powder is actually clear so these will fuse to bright orange and yellow with white confetti sticks. The rest of the pieces are mostly things that are going through a second time to "fix" them. In my first glass class the instructor told us "never refuse to re-fuse" and she was right. Most things can be fixed with subsequent firings. Like these tree ornaments that's weren't very pretty after the first firing. I"m adding orange dots to one and dichroic sparkle to the other. That should fix them nicely! The first time I fired this little pinwheel I had a dichroic bit in the center but it slid off and fused in one of the black triangles. Now I'm adding bits to the 3 other triangles and will try for another center. The stacked bits are what I do with some of my scrap. These will be magnets.
Today I'm dyeing fabric and tonight I will finish addressing and stamping the Christmas postcards! I suppose I need to start thinking about decorating this weekend. 12/1/2016 10:42:01 am
finishing a lot of things is what I am up to also, I guess it is that time of year when we just want to get finished with things.

Hmm.... That is fascinating about the glass. So I am thinking that when you slump a bottle that you could add bits on it also. 12/2/2016 07:30:11 pm
